Sta Betisier was previously called 'Bale Pinpin, ' which means 'laid aside. ' The name came into being when the city lost a number of barrios in 1810 to Arayat, Mexico, and San Luis. Rosario, Patayum to San Bartolome, Sumpung to San Agustin, Tuclung to San Roque, and Darabulbul to San Pablo.
